Nota bene!

 Info presented above is about the size of salary only, not benefits total. Depending on the country some social contributions, tax-deductible sums and other benefits may exist. Also free public services (day nursery, higher education and other) may have influence on real standard of living. Discretionary income could be better indicator of "goodness of life" .

Sources:
1) when the minimum wage is paid for more than 12 months per year, data have been adjusted by Eurostat to take these payments into account (as in Greece, Spain and Portugal, where it is paid for 14 months a year);

2) average gross salary -- data directly from statistical office of each country. Partly OECD data (approximate value)
http://www.stat.ee/organisatsioonid
http://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?QueryId=25148
  To make salaries comparable, salary of full-time emploees have been used. All sectors, enterprises of all sizes, full year job. In some countries salaries of judges, members of parliament or top executives have been excluded by statistical office. Usually organisations with more than 10 (or 30) employees are comprised.
Due to change of currency exchange rate salary in 2014 may be a bit smaller than a year before. Nevertheless the salaries in national currency value have risen usually. Except Japan where the average salary has fallen in last 15 years because of ongoing deflation.

3) net salary data:
  a) directly from statistical office database -- average paid net salary;
or
  b) calculated from average gross salary using trustable calcualtion scheme/special net salary calculator. Approximate net salary (~ sign) is used if calcualtion is less trustable.
